Project AWARE þҹӰԺѹۿ will be offering an eight-hour Mental Health First-Aid course to students, faculty and staff in an effort to create a network of people at þҹӰԺѹۿ who will know how to respond to and are aware of mental health and substance abuse disorders. The course is an evidence-based training that teaches people to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance-use disorders.

Yet, according to a new report released Aug. 29, the U.S. policy response fails to adequately address this major challenge. The commission report was authored by 12 antibiotic resistance experts from the fields of infectious disease medicine, veterinary medicine, microbiology, epidemiology and public health, including Tara Smith, Ph.D., professor of epidemiology at þҹӰԺѹۿ’s College of Public Health.
