A new study by researchers at þҹӰԺѹۿ shows that cell phone use might lead to feeling less socially connected, depending on a person's gender or cell phone habits.

þҹӰԺѹۿ global communication studies graduate student Daniel Socha’s research on a nonprofit organization’s efforts to support youth education in the Democratic Republic of Congo recently caught the attention of National Public Radio (NPR).
The fall 2016 Bowman Breakfast will take place at þҹӰԺѹۿ in the þҹӰԺѹۿ Student Center Ballroom on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Doors open at 7 a.m., breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., and the program will follow at 8 a.m.
þҹӰԺѹۿ’s Online Learning Team in the Office of Continuing and Distance Education has earned national recognition for outstanding work in online education. The Association for Educational Communications and Technology presented first- and second-place awards to þҹӰԺѹۿ State for its faculty training courses, Online Classroom Examples and Ideas: A Showcase Course and A Pathway to Excellence: þҹӰԺѹۿ State’s Online Faculty Development Program.
The þҹӰԺѹۿ State of Wellness Steering Committee is pleased to launch a mini-grant program. The program supports þҹӰԺѹۿ's initiative to create a healthy campus that enhances the health and wellness of students, faculty and staff at all þҹӰԺѹۿ State campuses. Any university department or student organization may apply for funding to support a wellness initiative in their area.
þҹӰԺѹۿ now has a community for international faculty and staff to connect, share resources and develop long-lasting friendships.
þҹӰԺѹۿ’s Women’s Center will hold its next food drive called Squirrel Away Food for the Pantry from Sept. 15-30. Donations will be accepted at the Women's Center, located in the Williamson House on the þҹӰԺѹۿ Campus (1200 E. Main St., þҹӰԺѹۿ), on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
Donations can include nonperishable food items, diapers, personal and feminine care products, and cookware and utensils.
The Pantry at the Women’s Center also seeks volunteers.
International students arriving at Cleveland Hopkins Airport for the fall semester were greeted with a warm welcome from þҹӰԺѹۿ staff and students.
Eron Memaj, international student affairs director, organized the airport pickup service for new international students arriving at þҹӰԺѹۿ State.
Eric Benjamin, of Alliance, has been hired to direct the new University Choir at þҹӰԺѹۿ at Tuscarawas beginning Fall Semester 2016. He is an adjunct faculty member at the campus currently teaching The Understanding of Music. He also is the music director for the Tuscarawas Philharmonic, a position he has held for the past 25 years.
