Following a national search, þҹӰԺѹۿ has selected F. Jack Witt III as its new vice president for human resources. A þҹӰԺѹۿ State alumnus, Witt currently serves as vice president of human resources and administration at Owens Community College in Toledo, Ohio. He joins þҹӰԺѹۿ State on Sept. 6.
þҹӰԺѹۿ's Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Todd Diacon has announced that Joan Inderhees will join the Office of the Provost in August to serve as the 2016-2017 Provost's Fellow.
On June 28, þҹӰԺѹۿ’s Division of Information Services will begin implementing a Captcha service for the þҹӰԺѹۿ State online directory. A Captcha is a security feature that differentiates people from internet bots by presenting online users with a simple visual puzzle, often made up of distorted text.
Researchers in the College of Arts and Sciences at þҹӰԺѹۿ have published a breakthrough article on new properties of liquid crystals in the May 27 issue of Physical Review Letters. The article, which describes some recent surprising results involving nematic liquid crystals induced by a high magnetic field, is currently featured on the American Physical Society website as an “Editors’ Suggestion.”
þҹӰԺѹۿ was honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for having the fifth highest team grade point average in the nation. Additionally, seniors Mack McGuire (Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania) and Tyler Buckwalter (Mill Hall, Pennsylvania) and redshirt freshman Kyle Conel (Ashtabula, Ohio) were named to the NWCA All-Academic Team.
