Named in honor of regional architect Thomas Schroth, whose global perspective framed creativity as a “window onto human experience,” the series has featured acclaimed guests including Tony Award winner Stephen Schwartz, the Grammy-winning Emerson String Quartet, minimalist icon Richard Tuttle, and fashion visionaries Ruben and Isabel Toledo.

A high-energy rally welcomed �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State's Class of 2029 to the beginning of fall semester, as KSU Kickoff week continued. 

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� is celebrating another five years of federal funding for its TRIO Student Support Services program that helps propel first-generation college students, students from limited-income backgrounds and students with disabilities to academic success.

Filled-to-the-brim plastic totes, computers, desk lamps, excited students and harried parents – it’s the first day of move-in for �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s 2025 Fall Semester. The annual arrival of students to their residence halls began on Wednesday, Aug. 13, on the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Campus.

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� President Todd Diacon offered graduates an unconventional yet powerful message during the August 2025 commencement ceremony, weaving together personal experiences, a global perspective and practical wisdom in an address focused on resilience, empathy and maintaining a healthy perspective throughout life.

After planning and supporting hundreds of ceremonies and events at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State, Lisa O'Connell, director of University Events and Protocol, got a graduate's-eye-view of summer commencement ceremonies as she walked the stage to receive her graduate degree as part of �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State's Class of 2025. 

The �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� alumni family grew by more than 1,000 new graduates from its eight-campus system across Ohio as the university held its summer commencement ceremony. The accomplishments of the Summer Class of 2025 were recognized with a commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. on Aug. 9.

Two �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� alumni will be in the spotlight this week as the Pro Football Hall of Fame celebrates its Class of 2025, with Antonio Gates set for enshrinement Saturday and Mary Kay Cabot receiving prestigious recognition for her four decades of sports journalism excellence.

Dedicated in April 2015, The Student Memorial Garden on Manchester Field was created as a place of reflection and remembrance of all �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State students who have died. 

Orange barrels will soon appear on a three-quarter-mile stretch of Ohio Route 59/East Main Street that runs through �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s Front Campus, marking the start of a three-year construction project to make the thoroughfare safer and more attractive.

The Summer Undergraduate Research Experience is a great opportunity for undergraduate researchers such as Ethan Wenk to work directly with a faculty mentor, gain valuable experience to clarify career and educational goals, enhance research skills and gain academic insight.

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� will be closed July 4 to observe Independence Day. No classes are scheduled on the holiday, and university offices are closed. The university will resume normal operations on July 7.

A Mantua woman who worked at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State in the Office of the President from 1951 to 1971 recently celebrated her 110th birthday. She recalls her time at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State and shares a few reflections from her long life. 

Water flowed for the first time in the newly completed Crawford Fountain in the courtyard outside Crawford Hall, home of �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State's Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship. 

The �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Campus.

An innovative design, energy-efficient systems, water conservation technologies and environmentally responsible construction materials are some of the features that earned Crawford Hall, �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s newest – and largest – academic building, LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The skies are calling once again, and �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s Flying Flashes are answering, this time with their sights set on a fourth consecutive intercollegiate victory in the Areaseir Race Classic.

The �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, in the Timothy D. Eippert Boardroom, Suite 412, at Crawford Hall on the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Campus.
