Workshops By Request

CAPS is dedicated to providing outreach and community engagement on campus related to many鈥痬ental health and wellness topics in an effort to improve the overall well-being of students. Please note that topics for workshops by request are limited to those listed below. 

Guidelines for CAPS Workshop Requests: 

  • Workshops are provided for KSU students.
  • CAPS is not able to facilitate workshops to academic classes.
  • To help ensure staff availability, please submit your request at least 4 weeks prior to your proposed workshop date.
  • If CAPS鈥痗annot fulfill your request, we will try to connect you with alternative resources.

Assertive Communication

Learning how to communicate effectively is vital to our personal and professional growth. In this workshop, participants will learn about types of communication, the various components of communication, and what can make assertive communication difficult. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and apply skills to real-life examples.鈥(length: 90 min) 

Building a Satisfying Life: Balancing Have-Tos and Want-Tos

Looking to create more harmony in your life? In this workshop, participants will learn time management strategies and skills to increase motivation and ensure that responsibilities, self-care, and fun activities are attended to. (length: 90 min)

Building Better Boundaries

Establishing and maintaining personal boundaries is important for both self-care and healthy relationships. In this workshop, participants will learn about different types of boundaries, gain an understanding of why they are important, develop skills for creating and maintaining healthy boundaries, and learn how to identify and overcome barriers. (length: 60 min) 

Letting Go of Perfectionism

Let鈥檚 aim for progress, not perfection. In this workshop, participants will better understand the factors that can lead to a perfectionistic mindset, learn skills to develop a more self-compassionate perspective, and develop healthy goals and standards. (length: 60 min)

Living Mindfully

Ever wonder what it means to be 鈥渕indful?鈥 This workshop will debunk common misconceptions about mindfulness and meditation and provide an understanding of what they really are. Participants will take away several strategies to use in their everyday life. Participants will also engage in practice during the workshop. (length: 90 min)

Navigating Mental Wellness

Let us help guide you in your wellness journey. In this workshop, participants will be provided with foundational information about mental health. Through guided discussion, participants will learn practical strategies to navigate their mental wellness and increase their emotional resiliency. (length: 60 min)

Peace and Vibes Playlist

Get your vibe on and cultivate your peace and empowerment! In this workshop, participants will learn how music influences our moods. We will have guided discussions on the power of music to promote positive mental well-being. Participants will learn strategies to create their own peace and empowerment through music and will be guided to create their own playlist. (length: 60 min)

The Procrastination Trap

Feeling stuck?鈥疞earn common reasons behind procrastination, strategies to boost motivation, and skills to improve time management. A workbook will be provided to each participant to create their own Procrastination Trap Survival Plan. (length: 60 min)

Self-Care: Build Your Stress Survival Kit

Self-care is not selfish鈥攊t鈥檚 essential! This workshop focuses on identifying symptoms of stress, strategies to reduce unhealthy levels of stress, and options for self-care. Includes a student workbook, in-session practice, and follow-up information for practicing skills independently. (length: 60 min)
