�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�

The �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2026 at the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 21 at the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Airport. �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State’s freshman class began classes on the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Campus nearly 7% larger than the previous year with 4,251 students – the eighth largest incoming class in the university’s 112-year history. 

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s Class of 2026 has arrived on the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Campus in strong numbers – 4,251 to be exact – an increase of nearly 7% over the previous year, the largest class since before the pandemic and the eighth largest incoming class in the university’s 112-year history. 

On this 21st day of September, we remember when Earth, Wind and Fire played at the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Student Center in October 1973. 

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State’s support for its military-connected community continues to embody leadership and inclusivity as the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Campus has been named an official 2022-2023 Military Spouse Friendly® School by Viqtory. Out of 1,800 participating schools, �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State was one of 665 to receive the Military Friendly School designation in March, and the university is now one of 346 institutions to earn the Military Spouse Friendly School recognition. 

Members of the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� community can take great pride in their university’s hometown. The city of �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� has been selected by Ohio Magazine as a 2022-2023 Best Hometown. The Best Hometown honor recognizes �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� as a great place to live, work and visit.

The performance, titled  will have its opening night at 7 p.m. Oct. 24, in the 700-seat auditorium of the National Academy of Science in Washington, D.C. 

Students can receive free climbing instruction Monday and Tuesday evenings at the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center. 

The �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State Student Multicultural Center will be renamed the E. Timothy Moore Student Multicultural Center in recognition of a gift from a former student, D'Andra Mull, Ph.D.

Using poetry to explore Akron, Ohio residents’ sense of belonging to their neighborhoods is the goal of a new project by �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s Wick Poetry Center. 

Last Friday, students got a guided tour of the Herrick Conservatory,  home to diverse and exotic greenery on the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� Campus. 

Nearly 40 people from the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State community enjoyed a tour of the flowers and trees of Front Campus during part two of the “Walk & Talk: Flowers and Foliage” event, thanks to the Employee Wellness and Health Promotion program and the grounds crew.

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� freshman Gracie Ford remembers well sitting with her laptop in the bedroom of her North Canton, Ohio, home to begin the important task of filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. 

Parents and Families Weekend at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State included a full schedule of fun actitivies. 

New plan will empower players to maximize their Name, Image and Likeness as well as enhance and protect their personal brand.

As the world comes to grips with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned as monarch for 70 years, �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State Today reached out to faculty and staff members with ties to the UK to share their thoughts on her passing. 

Students from the Student Multicultural Center celebrated the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15-October 15.

Every Friday, the �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State community can come together to create poetry and share a more vulnerable side of themselves at the Wick Poetry Center. The Wick Weekly poetry writing workshop brings students together to help develop them as poets and create a community of creatives.

Twice each semester, �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s Division of Research and Sponsored Programs hosts Research & Innovation Forums, to bring together faculty members to publicly present their ongoing work.
