On Oct. 25, �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�'s Undergraduate Student Government welcomed members of Hillel and Students for Justice in Palestine for both student groups to present their concerns about the Israel-Hamas war in a respectful environment.

“If you come in as an instructor and you really like what you're doing, you enjoy the classroom. You enjoy the class and the students pick up on it,” Jeffrey Osikiewicz, Ph.D., said. “They give it back to you. It goes for every classroom, and it makes for a beautiful experience.” This is his domino effect.

The campus of �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� at Stark is surrounded by a ring of fall's fiery colors. 

“Rising Scholars is a great program for our local youth,” said Paul Dykshoorn, academic program director for Rising Scholars at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State Tuscarawas. “We mentor each student throughout their middle school and high school years. We teach them life lessons as well as help with issues going on at school.”

Pratyusha Ghanta’s presentation "Stopping Lung Cancer in its Tracks" earned her third place in �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State’s fall 2023 Three Minute Thesis competition. 

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s Brain Health Research Institute sponsored a Research Skills Workshop, to allow students and faculty to learn how to operate the state-of-the-art technology located in the Integrated Sciences Building. 

Todd Kamenash, associate dean of students for conduct and community engagement, weighs in about what might change at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� if Issue 2, the Marijuana Legalization Initiative, is approved.  

A �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State student organization celebrated the Day of the Dead by assembling colorful, cultural displays around campus.

New Wave ’80s band Devo isn’t just from Ohio. Devo wasn’t just created in Akron. Devo was forged at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� under the pressure of the turmoil of the late ’60s and the events surrounding May 4, 1970. Authors David Giffels and Jade Dellinger brought their book “The Beginning Was the End: Devo in Ohio” to �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State for a book signing and discussion.

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� recognizes alumni who, through leadership, character and hard work, are making a difference. During Homecoming Weekend, 10 Golden Flashes were presented with Alumni Awards, and nine alumni received Lifetime Achievement recognitions from the university’s Black Alumni Chapter.

“For students especially, this is our future. This is about your individual rights as a person, and it's incredibly important because this is the future that we have for Ohio,” said Sam Zern, a graduate student in �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s College of Public Health and regional field organizer for Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights. Zern is working to help others see what she believes is the Issue 1's value.
