“If Monday was a color, she’d be red...”  The third annual Read-In @ �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State was held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Taylor Hall. This open-mic event gave students, faculty, staff and alumni the opportunity to read excerpts from or speak briefly about banned and challenged books that are important to them.  

The League of Women Voters and �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State Votes have joined University Libraries to encourage students, faculty and staff to . Staff will be available in University Libraries' lobby from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the dates and times below to assist those who are registering and requesting absentee ballots. 

Wilson Duda, a student in �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State's Career and Community Studies program, is excelling as an artist and illustrator.

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� leadership and donors known as the Renaissance Scholars Society will gather to commemorate 50 years of education abroad in Florence, Italy, during the first week of October.

On September 29 and 30, families of �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State students were honored with fun events and activities during the university's annual Parents and Families Weekend.

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State will host over 1,600 family members and their students to celebrate Parents and Families Appreciation Weekend. This Friday, Sept. 29, and Saturday, Sept. 30, families from more than 23 states and Ohio will enjoy various campus events and activities. 

�þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State senior Sydney Weber sees extraordinary images through her lens and an exciting career in her future. 

It was a FAB-ulous time for tacos on Wednesday, Sept. 27, during the “Let’s Taco Bout Black Squirrel Festival” preview hosted by �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�’s Flash Activities Board.

A group of 22 secondary school teachers from 20 different countries is spending six weeks at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� as part of a Fulbright program of professional development for foreign educators. 

While Alison Caplan grew up in nearby Akron, Ohio, and has spent time in �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�, when she joined the university as the new director of the May 4 Visitors Center in July, she began to see, and understand, the campus in a whole new light. Caplan is part of a group of Golden Flashes that �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State Today will be following for the 2023-24 academic year.

A full schedule of fun activities is planned for Parents and Families Appreciation Weekend – Sept. 29 and 30 – at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State.

The second Annual Mental Health Awareness Month at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� will have a unique campaign this fall. 

“We are going to paint �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State green,” said Taléa R. Drummer-Ferrell, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students at �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ�. 

For future filmmakers and video production professionals, there’s almost nothing like being immersed in the film industry in Los Angeles: the creative energy, the professional connections and the buzz of activity.

That dream learning environment came to life for four �þ���ҹ����ӰԺ��ѹۿ� State Media and Journalism students who interned in Los Angeles at 1895 Films, an Emmy and Peabody award-winning film and documentary company co-founded by alumnus Tom Jennings, ‘85.
